Page 1 of 2 ICRT Objectives are based on: Providing policy advice on the development of Responsible Tourism in Belize;
Facilitating the continued education of the Belizean masses in all aspects of Responsible Tourism and how it relates to and affects them;
Monitoring industry trends and opportunities;
Maximizing the economic benefits of the industry to the local community through the use of tourism as a means of building local economy by building linkages that support those directly involved in the day to day aspects of tourism;
Bringing local producers of goods and services into the supply chain;
Building links with local farmers and hotels to use locally produced farm items on their menus and in day to day services to tourists;
Ensuring the employment of local staff and their eventual training and advancement in the industry;
Ensuring the involvement of local people and products in tours, packages and excursions, while paying them fair prices for superior products and crafts;
Supporting the local economy by encouraging the locals and tourists to purchase locally produced items as much as possible, since this is where the greatest impact will eventually be felt;
Supporting the building of local neighborhood partnerships between associations, groups, NGOs, CBOs, villages and districts;
